abstract | An edible vegetable tissue or dried yeast is impregnated with a labile accessory trace substance, such as Vitamin B1, co-carboxylase, riboflavin, pyridoxin, pantothenic acid, biotin or Vitamin C, and with an edible acid, exemplified by citric, tartaric, phosphoric, lactic and acetic acid, an ammonium or acid salt of such an acid, e.g., ammonium dihydrogen phosphate or sodium acid pyrophosphate, and sulphur dioxide, sulphites and metabisulphites, e.g., sodium metabisulphite, dried and coated with a film of edible fat, e.g., arachis, coconut or palm kernel oil or cocoa butter. Suitable vegetable tissue is wheat germ, bran, oatmeal, nut meal, pulse meal, cocoa, liquorice root, marshmallow root. The product may be incorporated in an alkaline biscuit or cake dough or into chocolate. |
