abstract | 571,974. Peeling potatoes, &c. DOYLE, R. G. Jan. 22, 1943, No. 1150. [Class 28 (ii)] Potatoes and fruits are peeled by swelling the skins by steam at about 150‹C. for about 30 seconds then contracting and disintegrating the skin, e.g., by cold water or air at about 10‹C. the skin then being removed by mechanical friction. The potatoes are enclosed in the slowly rotated perforated drum b of an autoclave a with a central perforated pipe 16 supplying the fluids. The potatoes are delivered through slide gates 20 from a top opening 1 and are ejected through a lower opening 10 when the slide gates 20 are placed to face it. |
