titleOfInvention Improvements in lubricating oil compositions
abstract Advantageous addition agents for lubricants according to the parent specification comprise triphenyl ethyl phosphonium hydroxide or its salts, such as the iodide, phenyl, benzyl dibutyl phosphonium dihydrogen phosphate, tri-methyl, allyl, phosphonium, naphthenate, and tetrabenzyl phosphonium sulphate. The iodide may be prepared by refluxing triphenyl, phosphine and ethyl iodide on a water bath for 10 hours and washing the products with ether. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of trimethyl cetyl phosphonium chloride, tricyclohexyl phosphonium nitrate, tri(hydroxy-ethyl triamyl phosphonium) phosphite, trimethyl chlorcetyl phosphonium acetate, triphenyl octyl phosphonium hydroxide, and ethylene hexaethyl phosphonium bromide. U.S.A. Specifications 2,181,913, 2,181,914 and 2,181,915 are referred to. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
