abstract A stable preparation of a ferrous salt intended for oral administration is prepared by intimately mixing a solid ferrous salt with at least one quarter of its weight of solid ascorbic acid. In examples: (1) crystalline ferrous sulphate is dried in vacuo at 50 DEG C. until 6 mols. of water of crystallization are removed and ground with laevo-ascorbic acid in a china ball mill; (2) crystalline ferrous sulphate is triturated to fine grains, dried at normal temperature and mixed with ascorbic acid in in (1); grinding and drying are continued until a product containing FeSO4.4H2O is obtained.
