titleOfInvention Improvements in the preparation of fat-soluble vitamin compositions
abstract Fat soluble vitamin compositions are prepared by agitating, under reduced pressure, a crude sugar syrup with a fat soluble vitamin containing material. In examples, shark liver oil and a corn oil solution of irradiated 7-dehydrocholesterol are emulsified in black strap molasses. In a further example, inverted molasses is used to form an emulsion of cod liver oil. The emulsions are stable, uniform and do not ferment. They may be added to feeds, milk products and other foods. Materials containing vitamins A, D, E and K may be used; fish liver oils, sardine oil, herring oil, irradiated ergosterol, chemically activated Liebermann-Burchard sterols and provitamin A are specified. Emulsifying agents may be employed to assist emulsification. Before or after emulsification, vitamin C, consistuents of the vitamin B complex, nicotinic acid and the filtrate factor may be added.ALSO:Fat soluble vitamin compositions are prepared by agitating, under reduced pressure, a crude sugar syrup with a fat soluble vitamin containing material in examples, shark liver oil and a corn oil solution of irradiated 7-dehydrocholesterol are emulsified in black strap molasses.
