titleOfInvention | A method of producing compositions for activating metal and alloy metal surfaces to improve the process of forming corrosion resistant coatings thereon |
abstract | 560,847. Coating metals. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Oct. 15, 1942, No. 14471. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1941. [Class 82 (ii)] A composition for activating metal and alloy surfaces to improve the process of forming corrosion. resistant coatings thereon is produced by dissolving disodium orthophosphate and at least one water-soluble titanium compound in water and evaporating to dryness. The composition may contain up to 20 per cent by weight of the titanium compound such as the tri- or tetrachloride, hydroxide, nitrate, titanium potassium oxalate or a less soluble compound such as the carbide or oxide. The dried composition is dissolved in water and used as described in Specification 560,848. |
