abstract | 556,024. Blood-clotting compositions. LEDERLE LABORATORIES, Inc. April 29, 1942, No. 5767. Convention date, April 29, 1941. [Class 81 (i)] Rabbit blood is bled into a citrate solution, cells are removed by centrifuging, crystallized ammonium sulphate is added to give a 20 per cent solution, a precipitate being formed and separated, additional ammonium sulphate being added to the liquid fraction to bring the concentration to 30 per cent a second precipitate being formed which is dissolved, and ammonium sulphate removed therefrom as by dialysis. The fractional precipitation at 20 and 30 per cent concentrations may be repeated several times to secure a globulin fraction of high purity. The pH valve may be adjusted as by sodium hydroxide, and the ammonium sulphate may be substituted by sodium sulphate, chloride, or phosphate. The globulins obtained may be applied dry or in solution to bleeding wounds to form clots. |
