titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to the production of alginate solutions |
abstract | 555,940 Emulsions ALBRIGHT & WILSON., Ltd., and TOD, C. W. Sept. 19, 1941, No. 12135.. [Class 1 (i)] [Also in Groups IV and VI] Solutions or gels of alkaline earth alginates are produced by adding to the alginate and water a salt capable of forming complex ions with the alkaline earth so as to effect solution or dispersion without the precipitation of an insoluble alkaline earth compound. Suitable salts are alkali hexametaphosphates, tripolyphosphates, citrates and alginates. In examples (1) a glycerine hand jelly is made by adding to aqueous sodium citrate glycerine, a preservative, and calcium alginate, (2) an emulsion is produced from aqueous sodium citrate, a preservative, calcium alginate and oil such as soya bean oil and homogenizing, (3) a jelly is produced from sodium and calcium alginates and water; a jelly is produced from sodium hexameta phosphate calcium alginate and water. These preparations can be used as the basis of cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food, jellies and emulsions. Specification 25187/05, [CLass 2], is referred to. |
