[Class 91] [Also in Group XII] In the treatment of coal gas with oil for the recovery of light-oils and other constituents such as styrene and indene, to prevent the formation of sludge, the washing oils (which may be mineral oils) have added to them from .005 to .5 per cent. by weight of one or more organic substances, viz.: xylenols, phenolic ethers, pine and other soft wood phenols and oils, naphthols, coal tar distillates boiling within the range 140 to 300‹C. and soft wood distillates boiling within the range 140 to 300‹C. Other additions specified include guaiacol, creosol, ethyl guaiacol, propyl guaiacol, dimethyl guaiacol, methyl catechol dimethyl ether, pyrogallol dimethyl ether, methyl pyrogallol dimethyl ether, propyl pyrogallol dimethyl-ether, eugenol, hydroquinone or pyrogallol. Specification 535,148, [Group XII], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers also to the use of cresylic acid, cresols and hydroxybenzenes. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
