abstract | 544,064. Colour photography. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.). June 24, 1940, No. 15161/39. [Class 98 (ii)] A dye or dye-forming substance such as a colour development coupler incorporated in an alkaline photographic layer having a watersoluble binder such as gelatine is rendered less liable to diffuse by coating the layer from an aqueous solution of the binder containing the dye or dye-forming substance and also containing polyvinyl phthalate or cellulose acetate phthalate substantially homogeneously distributed throughout the layer. The dye may be a sensitizing filter, or anti-halation dye. The process is particularly applicable to multilayer or mixed-grain material with or without an intermediate or overcoating layer containing filter dyes. In an example the sodium salt of p-phenylbenzoylacetonitrile and polyvinyl phthalate are incorporated in an alkaline gelatine silver bromide emulsion. The gelatine is hardened with formaldehyde. A second emulsion layer is coated on the first layer, and on processing with p-aminodiethylaniline the magenta dye is mainly generated in the lower layer. Specification 542,507 is referred to. |
