titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to the manufacture of expanded cellular rubber or like material |
abstract | 542,897. Porous rubber. JICWOOD, Ltd., and BANKS. J. L. M. S. March 6, 1941, No. 3069. [Class 70] Expanded porous rubber &c. is made from a mixture of rubber, balata, gutta percha, reclaim, dried latex, olefine polysulphide or polychloroprene plastics &c. with an antioxidant and one or more vulcanizing agents and accelerators, by permeating with air under pressure, e.g. at 65 lb. per square inch, the occluded air being sealed by quick reduction of pressure resulting in a quick chilling effect, and thereafter expanding and vulcanizing the rubber by heat treatment. Accelerators active at the heat of processing &c. include zinc dibutyldithiocarbamate, mercaptobenzothiazole, or tetramethylthiuram disulphide. Antioxidants specified include compounds of phenylenediamine; diphenylamine, acridane, and of dihydroquinoline. |
