Aryloxyalkyl ethers, such as bis-phenoxyethyl, bis-methoxyphenoxyethyl, bis-xylyloxyethyl and bis-cresoxyethyl ether are prepared by heating phenols or naphthols, e.g., cresols, ethylphenol, cyclohexylphenol, chloronaphthol, guaiacol, xylenol and o-chlorophenol, with bis-chloroalkyl ethers, e.g., #:#<SP>1</SP>-bischloroethyl ether or #:#<SP>1</SP>-bis-chloro propylether, in the presence of an alkalieth, metal hydroxide. They are used in chlorinated rubber compositions. |
