abstract | 535,805. Dyeing textiles. CALCO CHEMICAL CO., Inc. Aug. 8, 1939, No. 11023/40. Convention date, Aug. 11, 1938. Divided out of 535,212. [Class 15 (ii)] Azo dyes, forming on the material; printing.- A solid product, dispersible in an aqueous medium to give a finished printing paste, is obtained by admixing in the wet state a stabilized diazo compound, a coupling component, an alkali and a printing thickener and drying the mixture at a temperature below that at which the dehydration becomes irreversible. Specified thickeners are British gum, gum tragacanth and starch. In an example, equimolecular amounts of 2-methyl-5-chlorobenzene-diazo-biguanide and the 2<SP>1</SP>-toluidide of 2 : 3-hydroxynaphthoic acid are mixed with the sodium salt of disulphodinaphthylmethane, dextrin, trisodium phosphate and water, the mixture is dried in vacuo below 80‹ C. and ground, and the resulting powder is mixed with water, strong caustic soda solution, the monoethyl ether of ethylene glycol and starchtragacanth thickener, whereupon the whole is heated, with stirring, for 2 hours at 82-88‹ C.,. dried in vacuo for 12 hours at 38‹ C. and for a further 6 hours at 71‹C., the rehydrated product may be printed on a cellulose fabric and developed by acid ageing. |
