abstract | 523,088. Smoking bacon. DANISH BACON CO., Ltd., and FRANCIS, W. Feb. 18, 1939, No, 5484. [Class 49] A device for protecting the cut surface of bacon while it is being smoked consists of a plate 1 of aluminium, synthetic material or other material unaffected by smoke, of oval shape corresponding to the cut surface, provided with three or more spring hooks 2 which are hooked to the sides of the bacon to press the plate tightly against the cut surface. The springs are preferably lead-coated or cadmiumplated. The plate may have a slot 13 through which the hook by which the joint is suspended can be passed, or it may have a straight edge, as indicated by a chain line 16, to allow clearance for the hook.
