[Class 98 (ii)] [Also in Group IV] Photographic silver halide emulsions are sensitized strongly to red with little tendency to fog by means of oxa-, benzoxa- or dibenzoxatricarbocyanine dyes, particularly the 2:2'- dialkyl compounds. Sensitizing data and spectrograms are given for 2:2<SP>1</SP>-diethyloxatricarbocyanine iodide, 2:2<SP>1</SP> diethyl-5:6:5<SP>1</SP>:6<SP>1</SP>-dibenzoxatricarbocyanine iodide and 2:2<SP>1</SP> diethyl-5:6-benzoxatricarbocyanine iodide. Specification 438,449 as open to inspection under Sect. 91, [Group IV], is referred to.
