[Class 70] Electric insulating compositions consisting of rubber, gutta percha or balata and highmelting point bitumen contain by weight of the rubber 45-55 per cent. of bitumen which may be grahamite, glauce pitch or the substance sold under the Registered Trade Mark, "Gilsonite." Mineral filler may be added in amount not more than 5 per cent. of the total composition. In an example, 60 part pale crepe rubber, 28.8. parts "Gilsomite," and 5 parts zinc oxide are used together with small proportions of sulphur, an accelerator such as tetramelhyl thiuram monosulphide, an antioxidant consisting of a mixture of phenyl-alpha-naphthyamine and a butyl aldehyde derivative, stearic acid, paraffin and a retarder such as salicylic acid.
