abstract | 515,566. Hormone preparations. WIESNER, B. P. H., and MILTON, R. May 6, 1938, No. 13627. [Class 81(i)] Preparations of hormones, physiologically active sterols or derivatives thereof are prepared by adding to a solution thereof a solution of a colloid in a non-solvent for the hormone or sterol which non-solvent is miscible with the solvent used for the hormone or sterol and then removing the first solvent. In examples (1) an aqueous solution of gum ghatti is mixed with a solution of oestradiol benzoate in acetone and the acetone removed by blowing with warm air to yield a microscopically fine crystalline material which is centrifuged and taken up in a solution of gum ghatti in Evans solution ; (2) a solution of gum ghatti in water or Evans solution is mixed with an acetone solution of betahydroxyoestrin and the acetone removed by blowing with warm air. |
