titleOfInvention | Improvements in negative glow electric discharge lamps |
abstract | A negative-glow discharge lamp comprises at least one electrode which consists of a thin metal layer on an insulating support, the layer extending through the seal to form a leading-in conductor; the layer may serve as a stabilizing impedance. The coating may be formed by dipping the support, e.g. the glass bulb, into a colloidal solution of tungstic oxide; the solution is dried and reduced to tungsten. The thickness of the coating may be increased by successive dippings alternating with reductions of the oxide; partial reduction of the oxide or reoxidation of the metal may be used to adjust the impedance of the coating. |
