Polyisobutylene is stabilized against mechanical treatment and ageing by an addition, up to about 1 per cent of a cyclic amine or a phenol. The added substance may contain the amino or aromatic hydroxyl groups more than once, or simultaneously. Specified additions are phenyl-beta-naphthylamine, alphanaphthylamine, and para-monobenzylaminophenol. In an example, polyisobutylene is kneaded with 0,1 per cent of para-monobenzylaminophenol. |
