abstract | 471,432. Composite boards. TYCE, G. C., LEFEBURE, V., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 3, 1936, No. 6479. [Class 87 (i)] In a composite board comprising a layer of cementitious material, preferably a calcium sulphate plaster between liners of paper, cardboard or pulp board, one or both of the liners consists of two or more sheets of paper &c. bonded together by a waterproof adhesive and one outer surface of the board is resin coated or impregnated and the other is absorbent. In one form, the liners are absorbent paper bonded by waterproof adhesive to an ordinary liner, and resin coated or impregnated paper &c. In a second form, the liners are resin coated or impregnated paper &c. bonded by waterproof adhesive to an ordinary liner, and an ordinary liner. In a third form, the liners are resin coated or impregnated paper &c., and absorbent paper respectively secured by waterproof adhesive to ordinary liners. The resin-treated surface may be decorated. A suitable resin is polymerized methyl methacrylate, and suitable adhesives are solutions of chlorinated rubber, accelerated phenolformaldehyde resin syrups or nitrocellulose adhesives.
