titleOfInvention Method of preparing (1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-5-pyrazolonyl-isopentyl ketone
abstract (1 - Phenyl - 2 : 3 - dimethyl - 5 - pyrazolonyl)-isopentyl ketone is prepared by treating 1 - phenyl - 2 : 3 - dimethyl - 5 - pyrazolone with diethylacetyl chloride in the presence of an acid-splitting agent. A solvent, such as benzene or carbon disulphide, may be employed. The product possesses therapeutic properties. An example is given of the interaction of the materials in carbon disulphide in the presence of aluminium chloride, the product being separated out by adding ice water. The samples of the product furnished under Sect. 2 (5) are prepared (1) by rubbing the reactants together in the presence of aluminium chloride and heating on the water bath until the evolution of hydrogen chloride ceases, and (2) by heating the reactants in an oil bath in the presence of zinc chloride.
