titleOfInvention | Process of making colour concentrates |
abstract | Lakes are made by incorporating with natural or synthetic dyes soluble in water or alcohol, bentonite which has been treated with an alcohol at boiling temperature to prevent it from swelling in the presence of water. The bentonite is first reduced to powder form and is then either heated with alcohol in the proportion of 1 gm. of bentonite to 2 or 3 ccs. of alcohol and subsequently incorporated with a dye, or it may be added to an alcoholic solution of the dye to which water may be subsequently added. According to examples: (1) a basic Fuchsine dye is dissolved in methyl, ethyl or other alcohol and bentonite is added with boiling, and (2) the same procedure, with the addition of water before boiling, is adopted. The coloured mass is then filtered and dried. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 238,976, [Class 2 (iii)]. |
