titleOfInvention Manufacture of dyestuff-sulphonic acids
abstract Dyestuff-sulphonic acids are made by condensing a compound of the formula <FORM:0457555/IV/1> wherein X and X1 represent hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, or halogen, R and R1 a sulphonated aromatic radical, and Y and Y1 as well as Z and Z1 stand for hydrogen or alkyl with an acid or alkaline condensing agent preferably in the presence of an organic or inorganic oxidizing agent. The parent materials are obtained from quinones such as benzoquinone, toluquinone, chloranil, 2 : 6-dichloroquinone or tetrabromoquinone and amino-sulphonic acids such as 1 : 4-phenylenediamine-2 : 6-disulphonic acid. The products dye animal, vegetable, and viscose artificial fibres reddish-blue, blue and grey tints. In examples, the condensation products from chloranil and (1) 1.4-phenylenediamine-2:6-disulphonic acid, (2) 1.4-phenylenediamine-2-sulphonic acid, (3) 1.5-naphthylenediamine - 3.7 - disulphonic acid, (4) 1.5-napthylenediamine-3-sulphonic acid, and (5) 1.4-naphthylenediamine-6 (or 8)-sulphonic acid are heated with fuming sulphuric acid. Specifications 447,899 and 448,182 are referred to. A sample has been furnished under Sect. 2 (5) prepared by heating the condensation product of chloranil and 4-amino-N-diethylaniline-3-sulphonic acid with fuming sulphuric acid.
