Motor fuels are improved by the addition of a mixture of ether, paraldehyde, tetrahydronaphthalene, and an upper cylinder lubricant. The mixture may also contain acetone, a solid lubricant such as colloidal graphite, and an organic basic material, e.g. aniline, toluidine. Lubricants specified are fish, animal, vegetable, and mineral oils, or mixtures thereof. Example. 75 litres of ether, 25 of spindle oil, 1--2 of soya bean oil, 20 of tetrahydronaphthalene, and 10 of paraldehyde are mixed, and 0,5 per cent of mixture is added to petrol or other hydrocarbon fuel, and up to 1,0 per cent to alcohol or mixed fuels. |
