titleOfInvention | Process for the manufacture of polymerisation products of olefines |
abstract | Olefines, particularly propylene, butylene, and amylene, are polymerized by means of liquid acids of phosphorus, together with a heavy metal compound such as a copper or silver salt; the product is a benzine-like oil. In examples: (1) propylene is passed into 85 per cent phosphoric acid in a copper autoclave at 150--180 DEG C., and 30 atmospheres pressure; after distilling off the product, the phosphoric acid can be used again; (2) butylene is polymerized in a similar manner at 180--200 DEG C., and 15 atmospheres pressure; (3) propylene is polymerized at 100--130 DEG C. and 30 atmospheres pressure with phosphoric acid containing silver phosphate; (4) a waste gas from coke furnaces, containing propylene and butylene is polymerized with phosphoric acid containing copper phosphate; (5) a mixture of ethylene and propylene is polymerized in a similar manner. Specifications 340,513 and 369,216 are referred to. |
