titleOfInvention | Improvements in and relating to methods of treating silicon steel |
abstract | Silicon steel, preferably that containing 1-7 per cent of silicon is heat-treated by applying a solution of sodium or potassium aluminate to the steel, drying the coated steel and then annealing it. In an example, a 10-12 per cent of a solution of sodium aluminate is applied to rolled silicon steel sheets and the coated sheets are annealed in packs in an oxidizing, neutral or reducing atmosphere at 850-875 DEG C. for 6-8 hours. Before annealing, the coated sheets may be normalized by heating quickly to 1000 DEG C. and then cooling quickly. |
