abstract Diethylacetylquinine is prepared by esterifying quinine with diethylacetic acid. The product, which is tasteless and fairly water-soluble, possesses therapeutic properties. The examples describe the treatment of quinine in benzene solution with diethylacetyl chloride, either with heating or in the cold. The use of the acid anhydride for the esterification is referred to.
