abstract Preparations for glazing or otherwise finishing textiles are composed of a water-soluble starch and one or more compounds of stearic, oleic, or ricinoleic acid with triethanolamine, ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, or triethylene glycol. There may be added:-a soluble sulphonated vegetable oil, boric acid or a borate, talc, and stearic, palmitic, oleic, or ricinoleic alcohol or esters thereof. Glycol and cetyl alcohol are included in examples. The preparations may be added to "cold" or "boiled" starch. For example, 2 lb. of triethanolamine stearate soap, 1 lb. of ethylene glycol or of cetyl alcohol, and 1 lb. of sulphonated vegetable oil are mixed, and then ground with 96 lb. of water-soluble starch e.g. "Feculose."
