titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to the manufacture of azo dyestuffs |
abstract | Azo dyes, preparing in special physical form.--Azo dyes are produced in the form of vitreous, non-dusting, readily soluble flakes, scales, grams or platelets by dispersing or colloidally suspending the dye in a suitable medium such as triethanolamine and drying the resulting suspension, preferably on a rotary drum drier. Trisodium phosphate may be added as an additional dispersing agent and in addition a protective colloid or binder may be added, such as preserver's syrup, casein, cane sugar, molasses, dextrin, gelatin, and cellulose glycollate, the mixture being then dried. The production of the following dyes in the form of water-soluble flakes is described in examples: Pontamine Black E, Pontamine Green B, Du Pont Basic Brown BR, Pontacyl Black BBO, Pontachrome Black F. Further dyes which may be similarly treated are Pontamine Blue BB, Blue AX, Fast Black FF, Green GX, Brown R, Brown D3GN, Fast Red F, and Scarlet B; Metanil Yellow, Pontacyl Sulphur Blue 5R, Blue Black SX, Ruby G, and Cloth Red 3G; Pontachrome Black A, Blue Black BB, Black PV, Flavine G, and Red B; Chrysoidine G and R; Basic Brown GX. |
