titleOfInvention Improvements in the manufacture and production of azo dyestuffs
abstract Animal fibres are dyed by the single-bath chroming process with azo dyes obtained by diazotizing amines of the formula <FORM:0413772/IV/1> in which x = halogen or a nitro group and y = halogen, nitro or alkyl and coupling with a 1 - (sulphophenyl) - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone. A table indicating the shades obtained using dyestuffs from the following components is given: 5-nitro-3-amino-2-hydroxy-1-methylbenzene, 4 : 6-dichlor-2-aminophenol, 4-nitro-6 - chlor - 2 - aminophenol, 4 : 6 - dinitro - 2 - aminophenol, 4-chlor-6-nitro-2-aminophenol; 1- (2-<1> 3<1>- or 4<1>- sulphophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. According to the first Provisional Specification the azo dyes obtained by coupling a non-sulphonated diazotized o-aminophenol or derivatives thereof with 1-(3<1>-sulphophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone are suitable for dyeing wool to be after-treated with metal compounds and that those containing negative substituents are suitable for dyeing by the single-bath process in the presence of heavy metal compounds. Details of the preparation of the dyestuffs 5-nitro-3-amino-2-cresol or 4 : 6 - dichlor - 2 - aminophenol --> 1 - (3<1> - sulphophenyl) - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone are given. Dyeings with these dyestuffs may be after-chromed or the wool dyed in presence of bichromate.
