abstract The separation of one constituent of a mineral sand from another is effected by agitating the sand with a dilute solution of a soap and a suitable oil so as to produce frothing, the soap being an alkali salt of a sulphonated unsaturated alcohol, e.g. sodium oleyl-sulphonate. The invention is described with reference to the separation of zircon from other constituents of mineral sand, as set out in the abridgment of Specification 406,018.
