Fluid lubricants of increased thermal conductivity and especially suited for the cylinders of internal combustion engines are prepared by dissolving a metal soap and an ammonia soap in one or more vegetable oils and combining the solution with one or more mineral oils. For example, 1 lb. of ammonium oleate, 1 lb. of ammonium stearate, 0,25 lb. of copper oleate, 7,75 lb. of a mixture of vegetable oils, and 90 lb. of mineral oil are used. A suitable mixture of vegetable oils is made from equal weights of olive, ground-nut and soya oils. Alkali metal or alkaline earth metal soaps may be used as the metal soap. |
