titleOfInvention | Improvements in and relating to processes for the manufacture of soaps having a disinfecting action and soaps produced thereby |
abstract | Silver-containing soaps which disinfect and do not discolour are obtained by mixing with soap metallic silver in the form of powder, foil, leaves, flakes, or the like. The silver may be activated by superficial electrolytic oxidation or by treatment with hydrogen peroxide, permanganate, or other oxidizing agent. There may also be added soluble or difficultly soluble silver compounds, or/and sodium perborate, sodium pyrophosphate peroxide, or other substance containing active oxygen. In examples: (1) Soap and 1-2 per cent of activated silver, with or without cosmetics are worked together, the silver being in the form of leaves or flakes of 0,0002 m.m. thickness or of powder passing a sieve of 17,000 meshes per sq. cm. Or powdered soap, dehydrated sodium perborate powder, and 0,5-2,0 per cent of activated silver are mixed and pressed into tablets &c. The use of soaps containing colloidal silver or containing soluble silver compounds, e.g. silver potassium cyanide and (AgNH2)OH is referred to.ALSO:Disinfecting-soaps which contain silver but do not discolour are obtained by mixing with soap metallic silver in the form of powder, foil, leaves, flakes, or the like. The silver may be activated as by superficial electrolytic oxidation or by treatment with hydrogen peroxide, permanganate, or other oxidizing agent. There may also be added soluble or difficultly soluble silver compounds, or/and sodium perborate, sodium pyrophosphate peroxide, or other substance containing active oxygen. In examples, the silver is in the form of leaves or flakes 0,0002 m.m. thick, or of powder passing a sieve of 17,000 meshes per sq. cm. |
