titleOfInvention | An improvement in making aqueous fibroin solutions |
abstract | Aqueous fibroin solutions are concentrated in the presence of an added quantity of a substance (other than gelatine) which reduces the surface tension of the fibroin solution. Suitable such substances mentioned are bile or a bile acid, bile-amide, lecithin, an alkali salt of a hydroxy-, chloro-, or amino-benzoic acid, and the wetting agents known under the registered Trade Marks "Nekal," "Avirol," and "Leonil." In an example, an aqueous solution containing fibroin and sodium thiocyanate is concentrated in the presence of 0,01 per cent of desoxycholic acid (or 0,05 per cent of ox gall, or 0,02 per cent of cholic acid) to a fibroin content of 14-15 per cent. The products may be used as spinning solutions. Specification 360,804 is referred to. |
