titleOfInvention | Improvements in the manufacture and production of alkyl ethers of amino-beta-hydroxyanthraquinones |
abstract | Alkyl ethers of amino-b -hydroxyanthraquinones are obtained by alkylating the said compounds in presence of basic compounds of metals of the alkali and alkaline earth groups, including magnesium and in presence of water and a water-soluble ketone. According to examples: (1) 1-amino-2-hydroxyanthraquinone is alkylated with dimethyl sulphate in presence of soda and acetone, with p-toluene-sulphonic methyl ester in presence of soda and acetone, with dimethyl sulphate in presence of magnesia and acetone; (2) 1-amino-2 : 4-dihydroxyanthraquinone is alkylated with dimethyl sulphate in presence of soda and acetone, and with diethyl sulphate in presence of acetone and sodium carbonate, and with dimethyl sulphate in presence of soda and cyclohexanone; (3) 4-amino-1 : 2-dihydroxyanthraquinone is alkylated with dimethyl sulphate in presence of acetone and caustic potash; (4) 1 : 4-diamino-2-hydroxyanthraquinone is alkylated with dimethyl sulphate in presence of acetone and caustic soda and in presence of methyl ethyl ketone and caustic soda; (5) 1 : 4-di (monomethylamino)-5 : 6-dihydroxyanthraquinone is alkylated with dimethyl sulphate in presence of caustic potash and acetone; (6) 2-amino-3-hydroxyanthraquinone is alkylated with dimethyl sulphate in presence of acetone and caustic potash; the products dye cellulose acetate silk in shades from blue-green to red-orange. |
