titleOfInvention | Wetting and penetrating agents and process for utilizing the same |
abstract | Mixtures of sulphonated polynuclear hydrocarbons and terpene alcohols are used as wetting agents in dyeing, washing, carbonizing, softening, fulling, desizing, and dressing textile materials. As terpene alcohols, a -terpineol, liquid terpineol, para-menthanol, and fenchyl alcohol are specified. In examples (1) cotton is wetted in a bath containing liquid terpineol or para-menthanol and the sodium salt of abietene sulphonic acid (made by sulphonating abietene with monohydrate and neutralizing with caustic soda) or sodium isopropylnaphthalene sulphonate, and dyed with Anthrene Violet BNX; strong, even dyeings are obtained, (2) wool is wetted in an aqueous bath containing abietene sulphonic acid and liquid terpineol, and (3) cotton is dyed with Anthrene Violet BNX in a vat to which liquid terpineol and the sodium salt of abietene sulphonic acid have been added. |
