titleOfInvention An improved expansion vessel for transformers and other oilimmersed electrical apparatus
abstract 368,264. Transformers. BECKIUS, I., Ludvika, and ALLM€NNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, Võs. teras, both in Sweden. Nov. 27, 1930, No. 35679. [Class 38 (ii).] In order to prevent oxidation of the oil in an oil-immersed transformer or like electrical apparatus equipped with a separate expansion vessel, the latter is so formed that at least one column of inert gas or dried air and one column of liquid is interposed between the surface of the oil and the external atmosphere. In one form, Fig. 1, the expansion vessel is divided into communicating compartments, the compartment 1 containing oil in communication with the oil in the apparatus. Compartments 2, 3 contain a separate body of oil or other fluid, the space between the oil in compartments 1, 2 being filled with inert gas or dried air. The compartment 3 communicates with the external atmosphere. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the compartments 1, 2 are arranged concentrically around the compartment 3.
