abstract Trinitrophenylethanol - nitramine - nitrate is prepared for use as or in an explosive somewhat like "tetryl" by nitrating betahydroxyethylaniline, which is the reaction product of aniline on ethylene oxide or ethylene glycol chlorohydrine, or by nitrating di- or tri-nitrophenylaminoethanol. Di- or tri-nitrophenylaminoethanol is prepared by condensing di- or tri-nitrochlorobenzene with monoethanolamine.
