| abstract | The frothing of lime and cement mortars and concretes containing colloidal substances which tend to produce froth, e.g. albuminous substances or decomposition products thereof, is prevented by the addition of small quantities of salts of the higher fatty acids or products of sulphurization thereof, e.g. alkali resinates and sulpho-resinates. The amount used is generally less than 1 per cent. The antifoaming agents may be added to the dry cement, lime, or other mortar former or to the mortars or concretes during mixing, e.g. dissolved or suspended in the gauging water. |
