titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to water paints
abstract A water-paint base, suitable for treating cement stucco, &c., consists of a mixture of lime and cement, each of which is present in large amount relatively to one or more of the other ingredients common salt, sugar and a soap such as calcium or aluminium stearate. In an example, 50 parts by weight of a hydraulic cement, preferably white Portland cement, and 50 of hydrated lime are mixed with 7 of common salt, 3 of calcium stearate and 2 of cane sugar, the whole being ground dry in a ball mill with any desired colour. In a second example, the sugar is omitted and the calcium stearate replaced by aluminium stearate; sufficient water is applied to allow the paint to be sprayed or brushed. The salt may be replaced by other hygroscopic salts and the lime, in part, by calcium carbonate. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 18095/12 and 150,551, [both in Class 95, Paints &c.].
