[Class 110 (iii).] In a turbine set comprising a radial-flow turbine 1, which may be of the oppositely running rotor type, and an auxiliary turbine 13 arranged in front of it, the two turbines are arranged side-byside on the same overhung journal 5, and the steam chest of the radial turbine is formed as a casing for the auxiliary turbines. In the Figure the auxiliary turbine is shown as being of the axial flow type, but other types may be used, e.g. inward-flow or combined axial and inward flow. The steam supply is controlled by valves 18. |
