titleOfInvention | Preservation of latex |
abstract | A stable acid latex is produced by the addition to natural latex of saponin or similar glucosides such as arbutin and salicin, and also an acidic material to produce a PH value of 7 or less. Suitable proportions of saponin are 1/2 -4 parts per 100 parts of rubber in the latex. Suitable acidic materials are hydrochloric, sulphuric, acetic acids, acid salts or salts which hydrolyse to give an acid, formaldehyde. Ammonia should be removed when such has been employed for preserving, e.g. as described in Specification 288,268, [Class 70, India-rubber &c.]. |
