abstract | Emulsifying agents for preparing artificial rubber are prepared by condensing higher fatty acids of the acetic or acrylic series, their esters, chlorides or amides with amino-alcohols containing at least two amino groups, one of which is a tertiary one. In examples a -diethylamino-b -hydroxypropylamine is condensed with (1) oleic acid, (2) oleic acid ethyl ester, (3) stearic acid, and a -diethylamino-b -hydroxy-a -phenylaminopropane is condensed with (1) oleic acid chloride and (2) stearic acid chloride. Specification 275,622, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], is referred to.ALSO:Higher fatty acids of the acetic or acrylic series or their esters, chlorides, or amides are condensed with amino-alcohols containing at least two amino groups one of which is a tertiary one whereby basic products are formed which are emulsifying agents for preparing artificial rubber and thickening agents for cosmetics and remedies. In examples, (1) oleic acid and a -diethylamino-b -hydroxypropylamine are heated together to form a thick oil, the hydrochloride of which is a fat-like mass. The aqueous solutions of the salts, e.g. the hydrochloride, lactate, and benzoate are very viscous even in small concentration. (2) Oleic acid ethyl ester is heated with a - diethylamino - b - hydroxypropylamine, giving a thick oil. (3) Stearic acid amide is heated with a -diethylamino-b -hydroxypropylamine giving a tallow-like mass. (4) Oleic acid chloride is mixed in acetone with a -diethylamino-b -hydroxy-a -phenylaminopropane. After the solvent has been distilled the hydrochloride of the new base is obtained as a yellowish oil. (5) If stearic acid chloride replaces oleic acid chloride in example (4) a thick yellowish oil is obtained. Specification 275,622, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], is referred to. |
