titleOfInvention Improvements in or relating to the printing of cotton
abstract Dye preparations; printing.-Dye preparations for cotton-printing processes are made by incorporating an alkali salt of a dialkylaniline sulphonic acid or homologue thereof in a paste containing a vat dye and glycerine or other water soluble alcohol or in a powder containing a vat dye and sodium carbonate. In examples, (1) 6:61-dichlor-4 : 41-dimethylthioindigo, Caledon jade green, the dyestuff obtained by condensing perylenetetracarboxylic acid w th p-anisidine in accordance with Specification 201,786, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], pyranthrone, or the dyestuff obtained from bromo-1-chlor-2 : 3-naphthisatin and 4-methoxy-1-naphthol, (Specification 289,154, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], is pasted with glycerine and sodium dimethyl- or diethylmetanilate or dimethyl-2-toluidine-4-sulphonate, and (2) 6 : 61-dichlor-4 : 41-dimethylthioindigo or the dyestuff of example (1) of U.S.A. Patent No. 1,667,848 is mixed with calcined sodium carbonate and sodium dimethylinetanilate. The preparations thus obtained are mixed with a thickening containing wheat starch, British gum, glycerine, potash, and sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate, with or without glycerine and sodium benzylaniline sulphonate and used for printing cotton in the usual manner. Sodium dimethylsulphanilate is also specified as a suitable salt of a dialkylaniline sulphonic acid. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 17437/11, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.].
