titleOfInvention | The manufacture of dyestuffs of the anthraquinone series |
abstract | Anthraquinone dyes are obtained by subjecting the condensation products from 1-amino-4-halogen-anthraquinone-2-sulphonic acids with aromatic diamino-compounds (excepting o-diamines) to treatment with acylating agents in the customary manner, in aqueous or organic solvents. According to examples (1) p 1-amino-4-(p-aminophenyl) amino-anthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid, and the products of paragraph 1 of example 2, and paragraph 1 of example 5, of Specification 342,667, and the product obtained by condensing 1-amino-4-bromo-anthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid with p-phenylene diamine thiosulphonic acid are acetylated in aqueous solution with acetic anhydride; (2) the sodium salt of the above-mentioned first product is treated with chloracetyl chloride, chloracetic anhydride, or ethyl ester of chlorocarbonic acid, in aqueous solution; (3) 1-amino-4-(m-aminophenyl)-amino-anthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid sodium salt is treated with acetyl chloride, chloracetylchloride dichloracetylchloride, and b -chlorpropionyl chloride; (4) 1-amino-4-(m-ethylaminophenyl)-amino-anthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid sodium salt, and the p-methylamino derivative sodium salt are treated with chloracetyl chloride all in aqueous solution. The use of acetylchloride in pyridine solution, and benzoylchloride, phthalic anhydride, benzenesulphochloride, o -bromoacetyl-, o -chloro-, or o -bromopropionyl halides and corresponding dihalogen acyl chlorides as acylating agents, is also specified. |
