abstract | 339,255. Carpmael, A., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Aug. 30, 1929. Emulsions, making.-A mixture of a diolefine, such as isoprene, butadiene, or a methyl butadiene, and styrene is emulsified in water and polymerized to obtain rubber-like and other plastic products. In an example 150 parts of the mixture is emulsified with a solution of 15 parts of sodium stearate or sodium mono- or dialkylnaphthalene sulphonate in 150 parts of water, with or without addition of salts, colloids &c. In other examples the emulsifying agent comprises a mixture of glue and potassium mono- or di-isobutylnaphthalene sulphonate, or of the hydrochloride of diethylamino-ethyloleylamide and 30 per cent'acetic acid. |
