titleOfInvention | Improvements in the recovery of valuable enzymes |
abstract | 325,831. Johnson, J. Y., (I. C. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Nov. 28, 1928. Enzymes; synthetic rubber.-Enzymes are obtained when rubber latex or mill, which contain enzymes firmly bound to albuminous substances are treated in a slightly acid solution with enzymes or substances containing enzymes, which chemically alter the albumen by degradation but which do not destroy the enzymes present. The products may be purified by removing the electrolytes by electrodialysis and if desired by isolating the enzyme by selective adsorption. The proteases, including papayotin, and moreover bromelin, animal or vegetable pepsin, tryptases either alone or in mixture with erepsin or activated by kinases such as enterokinase from the small intestine and similar ferments mav be employed. The enzymes recovered are employed for the polymerization of butadiene and its homologues. In examples, a solution of succus caricae papayae is added to dialysed latex made acid with alkali metal citrate or primary alkali metal phosphate. The rubber is coagulated and separated and the filtrate purified. If desired the enzymes which comprise catalase can be isolated by selective adsorption. The enzymes are suitable for polymerization, organic oxidation, reduction, degradation and splitting processes. An aqueous solution of papaine prepared from papaya fruits is added to acidulated milk, the solution obtained is freed from electrolytes and may be used directly nr concentrated by evaporation. |
