titleOfInvention Improvements in the purification (de-arsenification) of sulphuric acid
abstract 324,844. Riley & Sons, Ltd., J., Wilde, W., Coates, W. M., and Bentley, W. H. March 7, 1929. Sulphuric acid.-In the removal of arsenic, lead, selenium, &c. from sulphuric acid by treatment with hydrogen sulphide, or substances forming the same by reaction with acid, flotation of the suspension of arsenic sulphide is produced by the addition of chlorinated aromatic or aliphatic hydrocarbons, such as tetrachlorethane, trichlorethylene, or the oily dichlorbenzene obtained as a by-product in the manufacture of paradichlorbenzene. Cloudiness of the purified acid, due to colloidal sulphur, is removed by adding a small quantity of nitric acid.
