abstract | 318,115. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). April 26, 1928. Caoutchouc, synthetic is prepared by polymerizing an emulsion of a diolefine in presence of an organic substance containing hydrcgen peroxide in loose combination, such as the compounds of hydrogen peroxide with urea, betaine, pinacone or sodium acetate, or the compound of hydrogen peroxide with potassium fluoride. Organic or inorganic colloids such as plant or animal juices or extracts, gum arabic, linseed meal extract, spent sulphite cellulose lye. blood serum, milk, gelatin solutions, and colloids containing metals, emulsifying agents, materials which affect the surface tension, such as higher alcohols, electrolytes, and buffer solutions, may be added. In the examples, isoprene is emulsified with (1) milk or milk from which the casein has been separated and the compound of urea with hydrogen peroxide; (2) solution of sodium isopropylnaphthalene sulphonate, glue, and the compound of urea with hydrogen peroxide, the emulsion being in each case heated at temperatures between 70‹ and 95‹ C. for 2 or 3 days; and (3) an emulsion of butadiene, milk, glue, methyl cellulose, sodium butyl-naphthalene sulphonate, sodium isopropyl-naphthalene sulphonate, castor oil, and the compound of urea with hydrogen peroxide is heated to 50-55‹ C. for 7 days. Specifications 283,840, 286,272, 292,103, 313,188, and 320,960 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptrollerfo Specification 312,201. |
