titleOfInvention | Manufacture of derivatives of naphthazarin |
abstract | 316,950. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Aug. 4, 1928, [Convention date]. Naphthazarin derivatives are prepared by treating with an aliphatic aldehyde the so-called naphthazarin intermediate products obtainable, for instance, by suitable reduction of 1.8- or 1.5- dinitronaphthalane. The processes of Specifications 3828/94, 890/00, 6058/00 and German Specification 108,551 are mentioned as suitable for the production of the naphthazarin inter. mediate products in aqueous solution, and formaldehyde and acetaldehyde as suitable aldehydes. The condensation products which are formed are insoluble in water and sparingly soluble in organic solvents. They may be used as dyestuffs, as dye-pigments for oil painting or for nitrocellulose lacquer, as spirit-dyestuffs for bookprinting and lithography, and in the wallpaper industrv. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) mentions also the use of aldol. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
